Timberwolves Host Pacers, Waive Fesenko

The Wolves are back at Target Center to host the Pacers tonight. On Ricky Rubio's 24th birthday!

USA TODAY Sports

The Wolves take to the court at Target Center again tonight to face the Indiana Pacers in a preseason tilt. Good news! The game is actually on local... radio.

More good news: John will be there for us tweeting updates and writing a game story. It will be just like being there yourself.

The Wolves roster is now down to 17 after they waived Kyrylo Fesenko yesterday. Big Fes didn't get much run in the preseason, and was never going to make the roster. They still have 16 players with some guaranteed money owed to them, in addition to camp invitee Brady Heslip.

I don't have a good sense of how they are going to get down to 15. I thought it would be clearer by now. The three most likely options remain a buyout of J.J. Barea, Glenn Robinson III, or Robbie Hummel, though I guess I would be somewhat surprised to see Hummel go at this point. It remains vaguely possible that they are able to execute a trade of some kind involving one of these players, or Chase Budinger, but I doubt that happens before the season starts.

In case you missed it over the weekend, the Wolves announced they picked up the third year options on three second year players: Anthony Bennett, Gorgui Dieng, and Shabazz Muhammad, This was entirely expected.

It's Unicorn Day! Ricky Rubio turns 24 today. Happy birthday, Ricky.
