This is an interesting early match-up in the knockout stages of the Women's World Championships. These two teams met for the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics, with the U.S. prevailing, and France defeated the U.S. in a friendly match prior to this tournament.

France has had a tougher time at the tournament, however, losing to host Turkey and barely getting by Canada, while the U.S. went 3-0 in pool play. France is led by point guard Celine Dumerc and leading scorer forward Sandrine Gruda, who is averaging 15 points a game.

For the U.S., Maya Moore is leading the way with 16 ppg., and adding 7.7 rebounds per as well. Brittney Griner is averaging 13, 8, and 3 blocks dominating the paint along with Tina Charles, and Seimone Augustus is coming off the bench averaging over 11 ppg.
