Marc Stein of ESPN reports that:

This makes some sense, as the Wolves are currently overstocked at the wing positions (without getting into the quality of said wings) and need to rearrange the roster.

In all likelihood, the Wolves would receive a 2nd rounder in exchange for Brewer, perhaps one that is protected in such a way that it never actually gets conveyed.
Brewer has shown his usual energy, poor shooting, and dubious handles and decision making so far this season; we all know what he is. He's occasionally fun to have around, but ultimately has little place on a roster so full of wing players. He also has a player option for next season that the Wolves would certainly like not to have to deal with.
According to Darren Wolfson, the Wolves correctly think that they need more depth at the point guard spot, and would likely use the roster spot freed up in a Brewer trade to sign one.

I'm not sure I agree that Heslip makes sense or that he would be the best option, but it will be interesting see how they use that roster spot (if at all) in the event of a trade.
Such a move would also free up some playing time, presumably to get Shabazz Muhammad some more regular minutes, as he has exhibited good energy and an ability to score in sporadic time early this season.
What say you?
