A somewhat unusual win for the Wolves as they come from behind in the 4th quarter and roll past the Suns 110-101 in Phoenix tonight.
Down six heading into the final period, and down 8 with less then 8 minutes left, the Wolves roared back once Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love re-entered the game following a time out. Rubio fostered ball movement on offense and activity on defense, while Love was merely Love, doing everything from rebounding to passing to hitting the dagger three late in the game to give the Wolves a 10 point lead.
But the night belonged to Shabazz Muhammad, who had by far his best game as a pro. He finished with 20 points on 8-13 shooting (including 10 points in the 4th quarter), as well as six rebounds, none bigger then his offensive board and dish to Corey Brewer to put the Wolves up five with 1:38 left in the game and forcing Phoenix into a timeout.
It didn't help the Suns, however, as Ricky Rubio converted a huge layup, which was followed by a monster rebound by Muhammad this time on the defensive end, which led to Love's three to ice the game with under a minute left.
The Suns were hurt when Goran Dragic fouled out of the game with under four minutes left and the Suns up one. The Wolves finished the game on a 16-6 run from that point on. But it was contributions from the entire squad during crunch time that won the game for the Wolves. Their closing lineup tonight was Rubio, Brewer, Muhammad, Dante Cunningham, and Love, and all of them made significant plays down the stretch.
It was a terrific bounce back game for the Wolves after their loss in Portland, and they now have three days off before playing in Sacramento on Saturday night.
