Jazz at Timberwolves Game Thread

We have arrived at the final game of the season. A win means a .500 record, which would be some kind of accomplishment, though ultimately it feels fairly empty.

Well this is it. The last game of the season, a season that has been better than any in the last decade, but ultimately disappointing as the Wolves once again fail to reach the playoffs. A win tonight gets them to .500, which is something. I guess. We'll have plenty of time to deconstruct the year, and talk about next year, in the coming weeks. Tonight there is a ball game that means at least a little bit to the Wolves.

It doesn't mean much to tonight's opponent, however, as the Jazz have predictably struggled this season after watching Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap walk last summer, and selling their cap space for draft picks. They headed into the season intending it as a rebuilding year, and it has lived down to expectations. They have the worst record in the Western Conference. Rookie Trey Burke, who they are hoping will be a big part of the next successful Jazz team, has had a difficult rookie year, though has occasionally shown flashes. Gordon Hayward has had something of a down season, and the Jazz will have a big decision to make about him this summer as he is a restricted free agent.

The Wolves have beaten the Jazz in all three meeting so far this season, and none of them have been particularly close. It would be good to end the campaign on a winning note and get to that 41-41 mark.
