The annual NBA sideshow for losers, otherwise known as the draft lottery, takes place at 7:00 pm central on ESPN tonight.
As you all know, the Wolves are currently in the 13th spot in the draft order, and are overwhelmingly likely to stay there. General Manager Milt Newton will be representing the Wolves at the lottery.
There is a 1.8% chance that they move back to the 14th spot, which would result in losing the pick altogether to the Suns thanks to the Wes Johnson trade. There is a 2.2% chance that they move up into the top 3.
Don't judge me, I was browbeaten into putting up a lottery thread.
But let me take this opportunity to say:
Being a Wolves fan can be trying. I have no idea what they are trying to accomplish much of the time, and the losing and bizarre decisions are extremely wearing.
You know what's great about being a Wolves fan? This place. More to the point: all of you. This has been a busy few days around here with the Love rumors and the coaching "search." And it's been great. We've heard from new people (welcome!), and been somewhat annoyed by some visiting fans.
But the intelligence, humor, and knowledge of the Canis Hoopus membership has shined through as it always does. Sometimes it's hard generating content every day for this place, but it's well worth it because of the conversations that ensue.
Being a Wolves fan would be not much fun without being able to share it with you guys. And I wouldn't learn about all the things you teach me either--whether it be politics or climate change or food.
All that said, if the Wolves wind up losing this pick to Phoenix...I'll still be here tomorrow.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for participating. Thank you for being my friends.
