Wolves center Gorgui Dieng was named to the NBA All-Rookie 2nd team today.
Dieng was the 21st pick in the 2013 NBA draft and acquired by the Wolves in a draft night trade with the Utah Jazz that sent the 9th pick (Trey Burke, first team All-Rookie) to the Jazz for the 14th pick (Shabazz Muhammad) and the Dieng.
Dieng did not become a regular part of the Wolves rotation until three quarters of the way through the season when starting center Nikola Pekovic went down with an injury. He excelled with extended playing time, recording nine double-doubles in the Wolves' final 18 games, 15 of which he started.
Dieng's 818 minutes are the fewer than any other player on the All-Rookie first and second teams.
