The Las Vegas Summer League will take place from July 11th to July 21st this year, and the Wolves will be there with their usual assortment of rookies, free agents, and various flotsam. Here's part of the team's press release:
The Minnesota Timberwolves will participate in this year's Samsung NBA Summer League 2014 in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center and COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas. This summer will mark the eighth NBA Summer League in Las Vegas appearance for the Wolves (2006-10, 2012-14).
..This summer, 10 of the 12 teams that own Lottery picks in the 2014 NBA Draft presented by State Farm will take the court at Samsung NBA Summer League, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers, who are slated to make the top three picks in this year's Draft. Each team is expected to choose from an impressive crop of prospects that includes Australia's Dante Exum, Duke's Jabari Parker, Joel Embiid and Andrew Wiggins from Kansas, and Kentucky's Julius Randle. Samsung NBA Summer League will feature many of these top prospects in their first taste of NBA action, along with other recent high draft picks, as well as undrafted rookies and free agents hoping to make their mark.
NBA TV will televise Samsung NBA Summer League games from Las Vegas with a complete schedule of games and broadcast information to be released at a later date. Additionally, fans will once again be able to watch, via a subscription-based package, every Samsung NBA Summer League game live on NBA.com and on the NBA Summer League app.
I mostly post this article to point out that essentially everything in it is sponsored, except for the city name. Why don't cities sell naming rights?
3M Minneapolis brought to you by Hormel Foods. How much would it be worth if every official Minneapolis piece of paper had that on it?
Wynn Las Vegas brought to you by Get Cash Now!
Citicorp New York brought to you by Dow Jones. That's gotta be valuable.
