Lynx at Stars
6:00 pm Central
ESPN2
The Lynx travel to San Antonio to face the Stars holding a 1-0 edge in their best of three first round series with the Stars. The Lynx won at home in game one 88-84 after giving away all of a 15 point lead. The Lynx made the plays they had to down the stretch to hang on before a raucous Target Center crowd, but it wasn't comfortable, as the Stars began to find their range in the 2nd half.
For the game, the Stars shot 51% in game one, something the Lynx are going to have to limit if they want to end this one tonight. They won game one behind a +7 turnover advantage and good work on the offensive glass, something they will need to replicate tonight as the Stars are generally a weak rebounding team. The Lynx will also have to limit the Stars' looks from three point range, where they have been dangerous all year. In game one, the Stars went 6-15 from three after a very slow start.
A Lynx win tonight would send them into the Western Conference Finals against the winner of the series between the Phoenix Mercury and Los Angeles Sparks, which Phoenix leads 1-0 after a closely contested game one win. It would also end the career of WNBA legend and future Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon, who will retire once the Stars season is over. She showed in game one, with 14 of her 17 points coming in the second half, that she doesn't want her playing career to end just yet.
