Happy Sunday everyone.
Those Eric Bledsoe rumors look like they will predictably come to nothing, as the Suns are not interested in the Wolves spare parts, and are holding firm on their negotiations with the restricted free agent guard.
This is no surprise, and it isn't clear whether there have really been talks between the teams since prior to the Kevin Love deal. The Wolves are apparently focused on trying to get a deal done with Ricky Rubio, and it's possible that the Bledsoe rumor was a bit of a shot across the bow of the good ship Fegan. (It's also possible that Bledsoe's agent had something to do with it. I doubt we'll ever know).
On the Rubio negotiations: I have no expectations that a deal will get done before the season starts, which means he becomes an RFA next summer. There really is very little incentive for either side to come off their position at this point. The Wolves can certainly live with Rubio testing the RFA waters next summer with the intention of matching any offer sheet, and there is little reason for Rubio to compromise to where the Wolves want to be.
The Women's FIBA World Cup starts next weekend in Turkey; the U.S. will once again be the overwhelming favorites. The final roster has not yet been set, but I'd be shocked if Maya Moore and Lindsay Whalen are not on the team. Seimone Augustus might also make the roster. We'll keep you updated.
Media day and training camp are fast approaching; just over a week to go until things get started.
Watch the Premier League today. Ignore the NFL.
Have a great Sunday.
