Timberwolves Arriving in Town, Wiggins with Impressive First Pitch

New, comments

Players are arriving in town as training camp is now less than a week away. I can feel the basketball coming.

I linked this a couple of times yesterday, but it's worth one more: A comparison of Ricky Rubio and Rajon Rondo after three years in the league. Very similar players, down to their initials, but Rondo has one major advantage: finishing at the rim. This is going to be vital for Rubio going forward.

Rubio was the subject of one of the questions I asked in a "Timberwolves Five Questions" article yesterday. Also discussed is the team goals with this new, young group, the potential rebounding problems, and where we should set our expectations as fans.

Players are arriving in town in advance of training camp.  Thad Young and family are here, and doing some shopping:

Andrew Wiggins, who has been in town for a while, threw out the first pitch at last night's Twins game:

Finally, a plug, but only because I want to. Vox runs a series of websites under the umbrella of "eater.com," which are, as you might imagine, about food. We love food. So I want to commend you to the Minneapolis version which can be found here. Those good folks can also be followed on twitter, @eaterMPLS.  Lots of local restaurant and food news, something we all love. Unfortunately, there isn't a Madison version.

In honor of that, we need a good food/drink conversation. It's been a while. What have you guys been eating that's good lately? I've gone on a low-carb diet for the last few weeks, so it's been tough. I want to hear about delicious food.

A fantastic day for musical birthdays, but we'll go with Ray Charles, born in 1930 (d. 2004).

Other musical birthdays today include John Coltrane and Bruce Springsteen, among others. Also worth noting is that John Lomax, a folk song collector who was instrumental in the early popularization of the blues and southern folk music, was born on this day in 1870.

Have a great Tuesday.
