Probably the less said about this one, the better. The Wolves were embarrassed today in Charlotte by a final score of 105-80. Nothing to take from this one as it got out of hand early, and nobody on the Wolves distinguished themselves today.
The Hornets physically dominated and intimidated the Wolves throughout most of the game, forcing misses, turnovers, and hesitation all over the court, and especially in the paint, where the Wolves struggled to convert. On the whole, the Wolves shot 36%, and it was on merit.
Their defense was poor as usual, as the Hornets, generally one of the worst offenses in the league, went 12-22 from beyond the arc and shot 45% overall.
The entire thing was grim, and goes up there with the 76ers game, the Pelicans game, and maybe one or two others among the worst games of the season. Hopefully they can move past it and play better in the upcoming home games later this week.
NOTES:
- Andrew Wiggins was not able to build on his career high from Saturday, finishing 3-14 with 12 points, and generally looking out of sorts. He missed a couple in the paint, and was only 1-6 from beyond the arc. Bad nights happen.
- Gorgui Dieng also struggled offensively tonight, committing 5 turnovers and shooting 3-10, but did hit a hilarious buzzer beating 3 at the end of the 2nd quarter.
- Why am I mentioning individuals? Mo Williams shot 3-13. But really, everyone was poor today. The game got out of hand early and the entire 2nd half was more or less garbage time.
- This is one of those games you just have to try to forget about. Next up is the Mavs at home on Wednesday night.
