Wolves at Bucks: Preseason Game #6

We are reaching the end of the preseason schedule and are a mere week away from the start of the regular season. The Wolves at Bucks face off tonight in Madison--that's right, my town.

As a clear homage to me, the Wolves and Bucks are playing tonight in a preseason game in Madison--more specifically, at the Kohl Center, home to the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Wolves are coming off an ugly loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday, and need to start figuring out what their rotations will actually be once the regular season begins next Wednesday night in Los Angeles.

Ricky Rubio got his first game action of the season on Sunday, and will go again tonight, while Kevin Martin, who has barely played in the preseason because Sam Mitchell has had other guys to look at and he's had some problems with back spasms, needs to get some significant minutes over the next couple of games in order to be ready for the season.

Meanwhile, as discussed earlier, the expected starting lineup has been thrown into some disarray, as speculation that Zach LaVine, who was announced as the starter at shooting guard at the beginning of training camp, has not managed to hold on to that position.  Whether this means Martin will reclaim the job remains unclear.

Hopefully we'll get a good look at not only the Wolves young players tonight, but the Bucks as well. Jason Kidd seems like he knows what he's doing with this group, and the Bucks also have an exciting young core. I can't wait to see the Greek Freak in person, and the length and athleticism of the Bucks will be a good challenge for the Wolves.

I'd really like to see Rubio start getting in sync with the young guys like Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns--get them some easy baskets and start building something as we head toward the start of the season.

The Wolves have one more preseason game after tonight--Friday in Minneapolis also against the Bucks. There is definitely work to do.

Assuming no technical difficulties, I will be tweeting from Kohl Center tonight on @canishoopus, and will of course have a recap after the game.

Enjoy and chat about it here.
