So you probably haven't heard of this thing called FanDuel, because really, they haven't done a very good job of getting the word out.
But it's a service whereby you can enter single day fantasy leagues at nearly any price point you are interested in and win (or not) money.
Here's how it works: You enter a contest, pick nine NBA players playing that night, (2 for each position except only one center), stay under the salary cap (Anthony Davis is a lot more expensive than Adreian Payne), and compete with everyone else who entered that contest for fantasy points. Winners get paid.
It's simple and actually fun. I never did anything with fantasy sports until we did the FanDuel promotion last year, and I enjoyed it even though I basically sucked. The nice thing is the lack of commitment. Play or not on any given night. No team to monitor for more than a few hours. My kind of thing.
I played for the first time this season last night--in a $2 entry game. Here was my team:
This was actually quite successful for me--I finished in roughly 2000th place out of about 115K entries. That won me $10 for my $2 entry--I'm ahead on the season! My three stars all had big games including Curry's monster, and Rajon Rondo was also big for me. (There are games with less entries and other payout formats that are probably better for the serious player).
Even though this is a sponsored post with affiliate links, all of the opinions in this post are my own. And as an FYI, FanDuel gave me some cash to play its daily fantasy games.
