Wiggins named MVP as Worlds defeats USA 121-112

New, comments

Andrew Wiggins and Gorgui Dieng got the better of Shabazz Muhammad and Zach LaVine, with a lot of help from Rudy Gobert

It's an exhibition game that doesn't actually mean anything. But as Chris Webber and Grant Hill mentioned on commentary, our rookies don't get to play for a national audience...well....ever. As surprised as most of Wolves Twitter was seeing Utah's Rudy Gobert tonight, that's how surprised a lot of the rest of America was seeing our rooks. So it's still a cool moment for Andrew, Zach, Gorgui and Bazz to get, and they made the most of it. As it were.

  • Dieng - 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals
  • Bazz - 10 points, 5 rebounds
  • LaVine  - 22 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists

Yes, Andrew Wiggins won the MVP. And is now off to Dagobah to train with Yoda.

(Also we're not so Wolves-centric that we won't acknowledge Rudy Gobert, who could have easily taken the MVP trophy himself)

  • Gobert - 18 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks.

ANYWAY. The real fun happens tomorrow, when Zach LaVine turns the dunk contest as we know it upside down. Andrew's excited. You should be too.
