Suns at Wolves
7:00 pm CST
The Suns come to town a day after multiple trades changed their team significantly. Gone are starting guard Goran Dragic and backup guard Isaiah Thomas, along with backup big Miles Plumlee. Brandon Knight, who the the Suns acquired from the Bucks, does not appear to be available for tonight's game, nor do the players received from Miami in the Dragic deal. As a result, it looks like the Suns will have only 10 players available.
The Suns are still battling for a spot in the Western Conference playoffs, though they took a clear step back for this season at least with the trades yesterday in my opinion. I wonder if internally they have given up the ghost on that playoff spot with the Thunder back and clicking. At any rate, they remain a dangerous opponent with a strong offense, and of course the Curse of Gerald Green remains in force.
Meanwhile, the Wolves will not have Kevin Garnett available tonight (or Monday in Houston), and as a result we will probably see a lot of Anthony Bennett and maybe Adreian Payne as well playing at the power forward spot. This is what we will be seeing going forward as the Wolves embark on an evaluation period for a number of players over the final months of the season.
NOTE: This is Andrew Wiggins' final game as a teenager. He needs 30 points to surpass KG on the all-time Wolves points list for teenagers. He already leads in most 20 points games, and if he scores 10 tonight he will equal KG for most double-digit games as a teen.
