Nets at Wolves
7:00 pm CDT
FS North
Two teams who exchanged power forwards at the trade deadline meet tonight at Target Center with the Nets in town to take on the Wolves, who are coming off a win-less four game road trip.
Brooklyn is out of the playoff picture in the East, and are looking at a difficult situation as they have moved several future draft picks in what has turned out to be a fruitless chase after immediate success. The Nets are coming off a win against the Philadelphia 76ers, but prior to that they had lost five in a row.
Ex-Timberwolf Thad Young has been excellent in the first few games of his Nets career, shooting over 50% from both two and three point range in 12 games with the team, and moving into the starting lineup for them. He told the press today that he would likely have opted out of his contract for the next year had the Wolves not traded him, and he was thankful that they were transparent and honest in their dealings.
The Nets have most of their guys healthy now, which has not been the story for the bulk of the season. Down years from supposed stars Deron Williams and Joe Johnson, however, have doomed them to an expensive but not successful season, and I would expect them to try to make changes this summer. Meanwhile, however, they have those two and Brook Lopez back playing, and will try to make the most of it through the end of the season.
The Wolves, of course, played in San Antonio with all of eight guys available, and it sounds like none of the guys who were questionable last night will play tonight either.
This season has really turned into a march of misery.
