Lakers at Wolves
7:00 pm CDT
FS North
The word you are looking for is dregs. Two moribund teams with multiple injury problems just looking to get to the end of the season meet tonight at Target Center with little except ping pong balls on the line.
If this was a European league, these teams would be desperate for wins in an attempt to avoid relegation. Monday's win in Utah would have re-ignited Wolves' fans hopes of staying up, and set up this game as hugely important, as the Lakers have two more wins than the Wolves heading in.
However, this isn't a European League, and so these teams are playing merely for lottery position. Which, when considered without the long history of this nonsense, is, well nonsense. Most fans of both teams will probably be rooting to lose, which, frankly, sucks.
I will be rooting for a win, I guess, though beating a team that itself doesn't want to win is not particularly inspiring.
At any rate.
