Following their draft night trade to acquire guard Anna Cruz from the New York Liberty, the Lynx have made another trade for a veteran. The Lynx will send a 2016 2nd round draft pick to the Connecticut Sun for the negotiating rights to 34 year old power forward and two time WNBA All-Star Asjha Jones.
Jones spent two seasons with the Washington Mystics after being drafted in the first round of the 2002 WNBA draft. She was traded to Connecticut in 2004, and has spent the last decade a member of that franchise. She has missed the last two seasons, however, due to injury. She skipped the 2013 season due to various nagging problems, then ruptured her left Achilles tendon late in 2013, forcing her to miss the entire 2014 season as well.
Jones averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds in 28 minutes per game in her last season in 2012, though she missed 14 games that year. You can see her career stats here.
This is another win now move for the Lynx who are looking to build depth to capitalize on their fantastic but aging core.
