NBA Draft Lottery Results: Minnesota Timberwolves Draw No. 1 Spot

The NBA Draft Lottery worked in Minnesota's favor for the first time in team history, and the Wolves will have the No. 1 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

Well, there you have it.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will pick No. 1 overall in the 2015 NBA Draft for the first time in franchise history

With a 25 percent chance heading into the NBA Draft Lottery, many fans hoped that the odds would finally be in the Wolves' favor. Those dreams came true Tuesday evening.

Despite an earlier report that owner Glen Taylor's wife would represent Minnesota at the Lottery, Taylor himself appeared instead when it was reported that family members were no longer able to stand in for teams.

It's no secret that the Wolves are missing a strength at the post, and Minnesota will now be able to take either Jahlil Okafor or Karl-Anthony Towns. Okafor is being identified as the more dominant of the two, while Towns is labeled as being the more versatile. Not a bad dilemma to have--right, Wolves fans?

The general consensus so far is that Towns will be off the board before Okafor, and now the chances seem even better. Towns would prove an immediate upgrade for the Wolves' lineup, especially considering his tenacity on post defense.

In this morning's round table discussion, John posted, "Towns is the Golden Ticket, the ultimate dream selection, without a doubt. He can help fix many of the Wolves' largest issues immediately."

Key added the following:

Towns is the clear-cut top player, and I honestly don't see an argument otherwise. He's the best statistically, the best by fit and need, and the second best defensively only to his own teammate. His ability to hedge the pick and roll and protect the rim means he trumps Okafor by a wide margin, in my mind.

Either way, Wolves fans can be confident that they will see one of the top two centers in Target Center next season.

Even Timberwolves president Chris Wright celebrated on Twitter:
