Vasquez, who played for the Toronto Raptors last season primarily in a back up role, has one season left on his contract at $6.6M. As Doogie Wolfson pointed out, trading Canadian Anthony Bennett for him might make some sense, since the Raps have expressed interest in a Canadian player and Amir Johnson and Tyler Hansborough are both free agents.
Vasquez would be a useful piece as a veteran back up for Ricky Rubio, something the team desperately needs. He's a middling shooter but pretty creative player with the ball in his hands. He can play both guard positions but profiles best as a backup point guard who can score some and keep an offense moving.
He isn't a great player, but is a guy that would be a good fit with the current roster, where depth at the point guard position is a major need.
What do you think?
