U.S. vs. Germany
6:00 pm CDT

The U.S. takes on Germany in the first semifinal at the Women's World Cup tonight.

Germany has looked like the best team in the tournament, while the U.S...hasn't. Still, they looked much better in their quarterfinal against China, and their defense has been excellent all tournament. They will certainly be tested by the high octane German attack, and the back four with Hope Solo will have to come up big.

For the first time in the tournament, the U.S. is going with only 1 striker--Alex Morgan. They are going with five midfielders, playing Morgan Brian who was excellent in a holding role against China, with Holiday and Lloyd, Heath and Rapinoe. The hope is to control midfield and not let Germany control the middle of the park.
