Lindsay Whalen Named Western Conference Player of the Week

The point guard had an impressive week offensively and caught the eye of the league.

On Tuesday, the WNBA named Lynx point guard Lindsay Whalen the Western Conference Player of the Week. This marks the third time Whalen has earned the honors since being in Minnesota, but it is the seventh time overall for her career.

Whalen was noticed for her performances against Seattle and Phoenix. On Thursday, she tallied six assists and 16 assists on 46.7 percent shooting in a close win over the Storm. Whalen also helped lead the Lynx to a win over the Mercury Saturday night, grabbing three assists and 21 points on an impressive 61.5 percent shooting.

In the Eastern Conference, Chicago star Elena Delle Donne achieved the award for a third consecutive week. Delle Donna averaged 28.3 points and 10.7 rebounds over three games last week.
