Lynx vs. Sky, Summer Wolves vs. Summer Lakers

Two games tonight, one of them actually matters!

First, the game that matters:

Lynx at Sky

The Lynx are in Chicago for the only time this season, facing off against the Chicago Sky and league leading scorer Elena Delle Donne.  Delle Donne is the absolute key for Chicago, as they are 22-7 when she goes for 20+ and 23-27 when she doesn't.

The Lynx are sitting atop the West with an 8-2 record and seem to have things pointed in the right direction. Maya Moore has begun shooting the ball better over the last three games after a very slow start, and Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen are playing terrific basketball as well. Anna Cruz is expected to make her debut as the first guard off the bench tonight for the Lynx, hopefully she can provide some production in a reserve role. One of the surprises of the season thus far is the emergence of Dev Peters as as a shot blocking, defensive force inside.

These are the top two offenses in the WNBA; the difference is the Lynx also have a strong defense, something the Sky cannot boast. the Lynx will have to keep Delle Donne at least somewhat in check to come away with a win.

The game that doesn't matter:

Summer Wolves vs. Summer Lakers

The summer Wolves get their Las Vegas adventure underway against the Lakers tonight. The Wolves will feature rookies Karl-Anthony Towns and Tyus Jones, as well as 2nd year players Adreian Payne and Zach LaVine. Lorenzo Brown will also be on the court, with the rest of the team made up of non-roster guys.

The Lakers will have their lottery picks over the last two years--D'Angelo Russell and Julius Randle, as well as last season's all-rookie choice Jordan Clarkson.

Dave Naylor is out there covering summer league for us, and should be tweeting on the @canishoopus account, but you should also follow him @profcedar if you don't already.

NOTE: He wanted to do this. I didn't force him to go to Vegas.

Dave will have a recap of proceedings later.

Finally, the U.S. Men's National Team is in action in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tonight, in their 2nd group game against Haiti. They beat Honduras 2-1 in their first match up.  The game is at 7:30 pm CDT on Fox Sports One.

Of course, you also might have better things to do with your Friday night than watch sports.
