Lynx Prepare for Friday Night Matchup
Although every game at this point in the season is certainly important, it's tough to ignore the significance of tonight's game against the New York Liberty.
Minnesota has already clinched a playoff berth, but the team's play has been less than impressive as of late. If the Lynx allow New York a victory this evening, the Liberty will notch its first playoff berth in three seasons.
Adding to the pressure, New York's 18-8 record sits the team just barely ahead of Minnesota (19-9) for the league's best.
Since changing up its roster and adding Sylvia Fowles to the lineup, Cheryl Reeve's squad has lost five of its last 12 games, some of them by decent margins. A road win over the Liberty would be just the kind of momentum the Lynx need, but you can bet New York will come out swinging.
Timberwolves Having No Luck Trading Bennett
Earlier this week, a couple of platforms featured trade rumors surrounding Anthony Bennett. The general consensus, though, is that Bennett is drawing little-to-no interest from other teams. According to Sporting News, the forward has been on the trade block since the NBA Draft in June and hasn't gotten much of a nibble.
In honesty, it's not surprising when you look at Bennett's production level combined with his salary. During the 2014-15 season, he averaged just 5.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per game. Some may say he's still plenty young enough to turn it around, but I don't see that happening. Minnesota owes the 22-year-old $5.2 million for the 2015 season, and he has a team option for $7.3 million for the following year. There's not a team out there right now that wants to take on that kind of bill for a low-caliber player.
Bennett has been a bust since entering the league, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing overseas within the next few years.
Lindsey's Friday Flick Recommendation
I don't even know how to explain this movie, so I might not try. What I will say, though, is that it's worth watching. With an all-star cast, intriguing soundtrack and bizarre story line, I was entertained from beginning to end.
