Lynx in Phoenix, Friday Open Thread

Hi all. Enjoy the end of the week.

Lynx at Mercury
9:00 pm CDT

The Lynx will try to avoid a two game losing streak in Phoenix tonight after losing in L.A. to the Sparks. It was their first loss since before the All-Star break, and it halted Maya Moore's streak of 20+ points at 11 games.

Thursday Night Trends:

#GOP Debate

Ack. More than a year of nonsense before the election. It's a good thing I've pretty much given up on television.

#Compton

First new album from Dr. Dre in 20 years? Really? He's donating royalties to build an Arts Center in Compton, apparently, which is nice. My 14 year old can't wait to see the movie, which strikes me as odd, but there you have it.

Almost all the rest of the trends are sub trends of the GOP debate. So we'll move on.

Hey, if anyone wants to buy tickets to the Bucks-Wolves pre-season game in Madison (Oct. 20th), here's a link to check out. Type in promo code TOMAN and you can perhaps get some discounts.

Today in History

1606: Macbeth performed perhaps for the first time for King James I.
1882: Hatfields vs. McCoys results in 100 dead or wounded
1909: First Lincoln penny issued
1927: Peace Bridge between U.S. and Canada dedicated
1930: Thomas Shipp and Abram Smith, two black men, are lynched by mob in Marion, IN
1934: U.S. Court of Appeals rules that James Joyce's Ulysses cannot be banned
1960: Ivory Coast gains independence from France

I can't find a particularly interesting musical birthday for today, so instead here's something since the movie is coming out:
