Canada vs. Argentina
2:30 pm CDT
ESPN3
Team Canada, featuring Timberwolves Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins face off in their FIBA Americas opener against traditional power Argentina. Argentina is without many of the players that formed their "golden generation" and won an Olympic Gold Medal in 2004, but remain formidable. They are led by veteran power forward Luis Scola.
More and more talent is emerging from Canada, of course, and getting a look at Andrew Wiggins in a competitive setting after a few months of summer is something all Wolves fans are looking forward to. Both he and Bennett had their moments in the pre-tournament warm up games, but now they will look to qualify Canada for next summer's Olympic games.
The top two finishers in the tournament automatically qualify, unless one of them is Brazil, in which case the 3rd place team also gets an automatic spot. The U.S. is already qualified due to their win at last summer's World Cup, and is not participating in this tournament.
