Thursday Therapy: Winning!

The Lynx sealed the Western Conference's best seed, Canada sealed a favorable matchup in the semi-finals of FIBA Americas, and Serbia can clinch their group with a win today!

Way to go, AB!

If you're following the events of the Wolves playing for their international teams, their teams are actually doing pretty well.

  • Canada clinched top spot in the second half of the group stage in Mexico with a 120-103 win over the Dominican Republic yesterday. Andrew Wiggins had 12 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists, while Anthony Bennett had 14 points and 6 rebounds. Bennett also may have been possessed by Brady Heslip, as all 5 of his shots from the field were three-pointers, and he made four of them, all in the first quarter.
  • Canada now faces Venezuela for a spot in the tournament final and guaranteed spot at the 2016 Olympics (top two at the tournament qualify). Canada comfortably won this matchup in the first half of the group stage, 82-62, and should be confident of a win here. The other semi-final features Mexico and Argentina.
  • Meanwhile, in Europe, Serbia kept their hot streak in motion. A comfortable 91-72 win over Turkey kept them undefeated at Eurobasket, and a win over Italy today will give them top spot in Group B, an impressive feat in likely the strongest of the four Eurobasket groups. Nemanja Bjelica had a quiet night with 8 points and 2 assists.
  • The other Timberwolf at Eurobasket, Damjan Rudez, had his highest scoring game in Croatia's 78-72 win over the Netherlands!...he had five points. Rudez is 2-15 (2-10 3P) through four games of Eurobasket, which is not great. Croatia are doing just fine without his help, though, and will clinch second in Group C with a win over Georgia tomorrow.

Meanwhile, back in the States, the Lynx are locked into the top seed in the Western Conference and second best record overall in the WNBA. They will face the Los Angeles Sparks in the first round of the playoffs, a dangerous prospect given the form that Candace Parker has shown in the half of the season she's been with the Sparks. After their last regular season game in Seattle on Sunday, the Lynx have a bit of preparation to do for that series.

Your question of the day, which has been the on-off debate of the last few days and was spurred on by yesterday's game: Can Anthony Bennett shoot the NBA 3 consistently? And, more relevantly, should he?

Your song of the day is really cool. Check it out, and have a killer day.
