The Wolves host the Raptors tonight at 7:00 pm CST in their final game before a nine day break for the All-Star game. They won't take the court again until Friday the 19th when they face the Grizzlies in Memphis. No doubt they would like to end this part of the season with a win to take with them as they disperse, especially after Monday's debacle against the Pelicans.
The Raptors, meanwhile, are on fire. They have won 14 of their last 15 games, including three of four on their current road trip, and with Toronto hosting this weekend's festivities, fans of the Raps must be feeling pretty good. Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan comprise one of the league's top back courts, and they are getting solid play almost everywhere else despite a somewhat disappointing first year in Toronto for major signing DeMarre Carroll. It adds up to the 2nd spot in the East, just two games behind the Cavs as we head to the break.
Speaking of All-Star weekend, here's a partial schedule (Lucas will have it again for you on Friday):
Friday 2/12
8:00 pm CST: Rising Stars Challenge
Andrew Wiggins will appear for the World Team (and is the reigning MVP of the game), while Zach LaVine and Karl-Anthony Towns will be on the U.S. Team. TNT.
Saturday 2/13
7:00 pm CST: All-Star Saturday Night TNT
Skills Challenge, 3-Point Contest, and the Dunk Contest. Towns will participate in the "Big man" part of the event. Zach LaVine will try to defend his title after last year's virtuoso performance. Is the odds-on favorite.
Sunday 2/14
7:30 pm CST: All-Star Game on TNT
Today's musical birthday is Leontyne Price, the finest soprano ever produced in the United States, born in 1927
This is an open thread for your enjoyment. Have a great Wednesday.
