Draft Lottery: Wolves Get the 5th Pick in the 2016 NBA Draft

The Timberwolves, represented by Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns, drew the 5th pick in the NBA draft lottery tonight.

Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

The Wolves drew the 5th pick in tonight's NBA Draft Lottery.  This was the 2nd most likely result (after 6th), and where the Wolves finished record-wise this season.

They were represented by Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns, who brought along one of Flip Saunders' wedding rings for good luck, a day after donating the KIA he won for the ROY award to the Saunders foundation.

The 5th pick will be an interesting one, with several available candidates. Among the players the Wolves interviewed at the NBA combine in Chicago last week who may be available with that pick include

Kris Dunn
Henry Ellenson
Jamal Murray
Jaylen Brown
Jakob Poetl

Other players to keep in mind are

Buddy Hield
Marquese Chriss
Deyonta Davis
Dragan Bender

Of course there is always the chance that the Wolves trade the pick for more immediate help.

The full lottery order is

Philadelphia 76ers
Los Angeles Lakers
Boston Celtics
Phoenix Suns
Minnesota Timberwolves
New Orleans Pelicans
Denver Nuggets
Sacramento Kings
Toronto Raptors
Milwaukee Bucks
Orlando Magic
Utah Jazz
Phoenix Suns
Chicago Bulls
