As of this writing, we're about 9 hours in to the NBA free agency period, and things are going. Somewhere. Here are some things we know so far:
Bradley Beal, Andre Drummond, DeMar DeRozan, and Nic Batum have all agreed to contracts of 5 years and $120+ million to stay with their respective teams. None of those strike me as terrible mistakes, though I don't love Beal at 5/$128. Wizards didn't have a lot of options though.
Hassan Whiteside, after being rumored to Dallas, has agreed to stay with the Heat on a 4 year Max contract. I would have let him go elsewhere for that price, but it could work out.
Joakim Noah looks to be signing with the Knicks on a 4 year deal in the vicinity of $70M. This is about the AAV I expected, though I wasn't sure any team would go four years with him.
The most amazing deal of the night in my opinion is Timofey Mozgov, who agreed with the Lakers on a 4 year, $64M deal. Mozgov, for reasons that remain vague, was the Lakers top priority.
Aside: How good is Gorgui Dieng feeling right now? Bigs, as they do, are getting paid.
Jordan Clarkson re-upped with the Lakers at 4/$50M.
D.J. Augustin, a potential Wolves target, agreed with the Magic on a three year deal terms not yet known.
Meanwhile, Chandler Parsons is getting max attention from several teams including the Blazers and Grizzlies.
Courtney Lee is set to meet with the Knicks and others--another guy the Wolves were thought to have interest in.
On the Wolves front, it was quiet. They are scheduled to speak with Luol Deng at some point today, but nothing else as far as I can find.
Thibs has officially reached out to the Luol Deng camp, I'm told. Deng and Thibs are expected to chat tomorrow, not tonight. #twolves

Other teams in addition to #Twolves to call on Deng tonight: Boston, Miami, and Washington. Utah expected to eventually.

We'll see what today brings.
I am beginning to think that if Deng doesn't pan out, the Wolves won't be active beyond perhaps some marginal back up players of the Lance Thomas variety. That would be disappointing, but we'll have time to figure out what it means later.
Have a fun day.
