Eric and John here. It's time to announce that we are seeking new contributors to the site. It might be one person, it might be three people, depending on the responses we get and the roles we need filled, but we'd love to hear from you if you are interested in contributing to our virtual bar.
What is Canis Hoopus?
Presumably, if you are reading this, you already know. We are a member of the SB Nation network of sports blogs, and have been around in one form or another for nearly a decade. Canis is the most trafficked Wolves fan blog on the internet, and is a great opportunity to get your words in front of a lot of eyeballs.
Is it Paid?
No, and if this is a deal breaker, then we completely understand. However, as we said above, it's great exposure, whether your goal is to simply engage as a passionate fan, improve your writing skills, or hope to springboard to a life as a professional writer.
What are the expectations?
Well, that depends on you, for the most part. Here are some of the things we need help with:
Game Coverage: We always need people to pitch in with previews, recaps (especially of road games), and game threads.
News Coverage: Helping us get news (with opinion!) up on the site in a timely manner. This is a team effort and we can always use more team members.
Short form: Helping us find and post short bits about the Wolves, whether it be a funny vine, instagram, or whatever. Or a quick update on a player who does/says something interesting.
Facebook: Helping make our Facebook page more active, with links to stories, but also pictures and video about the Wolves and Lynx from around the web.
Of course there is always the opportunity to write more in depth analysis pieces; we're always thrilled to work with you on whatever interests you about the Wolves, the Lynx, or basketball in general.
What are the Requirements?
You don't have to be a great writer today, but you do have to convince us that you have the passion for this, that you have time and energy to put in the work, and that you will be compatible with our group. We will work together on the rest.
How Do I Apply:
Please send an email to these addresses: jhenrymeyer42@gmail.com and erickg311@gmail.com answering the following questions and telling us something about yourself:
1. Why do you want to contribute to Canis Hoopus?
2. How do you think you could contribute to Canis Hoopus? The more specific you can be, the better.
3. What does your availability look like and how often could you contribute?
4. Do you have any examples of your work? (Feel free to include links or attachments.)
We will do our best to get back to everyone, with a yes or a no, as quickly as we are able, but I am expecting this to be a couple of weeks long process at least. For those of you we don't choose, please don't be discouraged and don't hesitate to re-apply next time we do this.
Oh, one more thing: I hope it goes without saying that we don't discriminate on the basis of, well, anything. Except Lakers fans. Absolutely no Lakers fans.
