Just a quick open thread with the Olympic schedule of interest for this morning:
The U.S. women’s soccer team, having already beaten New Zealand on Wednesday, face their biggest group challenge today against France at 3:00 pm CDT. France is one of the top teams in the world and should be a good measuring stick for where the U.S. team is right now.
The men’s basketball team gets underway today at 5:00 pm CDT against China, a team they blew out twice in exhibitions. This is unlikely to be a contest.
Spain’s men’s basketball team starts play Sunday at 5:00 pm CDT against Croatia, in what could be a good match up. Looking forward to seeing Ricky Rubio playing for his national team, something he clearly takes great pride and joy in doing.
Finally, a quick note for those who responded to our call for contributors: Thank you. We got a huge number of responses, many more than I expected, and a ton that seem intriguing. I mention this because it’s taking time to go through all of them, but be assured we’re working on it, and you will hear from us as soon as possible.
Have a great Saturday.
