The Wolves announced a few minutes ago that Zach LaVine suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during last night’s loss to the Pistons.
He will undergo surgery shortly, and will miss the remainder of the season.
It goes without saying that this is terrible news for Zach and for the Timberwolves. LaVine has improved significantly this season, and seeing him go down is just awful. His development along with Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns has been Tom Thibodeau’s priority this season, so losing one of that trio for an extended period puts a real damper on the rest of the season.
It’s unknown how long LaVine will be out, though it seems almost certain based on standard recovery time that he will miss the beginning of next season, and of course full recovery and a return to his explosive best is likely to take significantly longer.
We of course wish Zach nothing but the best in his surgery and rehabilitation.
