Who wants to go to Vegas?
The Timberwolves have just released their summer league schedule for the NBA 2017 Summer League, which takes place in Las Vegas. The Wolves have three scheduled games, which will be followed by a tournament to determine the true summer league champion.
Last year, the Wolves reached the Championship Game, where they lost, on the back of some incredible play by Tyus Jones, who won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Typically, the summer league is used to showcase the heralded new draft picks, as well as NBA sophomores, while giving some other players a bit of run to see if they can earn a training camp invite. This year, the Wolves will likely feature whoever they draft at 7, assuming they keep the pick, as well as Kris Dunn. That team could be good.
The Wolves schedule is as follows:
- July 8th vs Toronto
- July 9th vs Denver
- July 11th vs Golden State
The Championship Game will take place on Monday, July 17th.
The Denver game should be interesting, as they also have quite a few fun young players.
The Summer League is always a good time. NBA teams are assessing their draft picks for the first time and we all can make believe that the prospects are their best selves, as the top draft picks are simply miles ahead of the competition. With another top draft pick this year, the Summer League Wolves should be fun to watch.
