According to multiple reports, the Wolves have agreed to trade Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and the seventh pick to the Chicago Bulls for Jimmy Butler.
This is the deal we’ve been speculating about for more than a year, and it’s finally happened.
There is no doubt it’s a lot to give up for a single player, but Butler is an All-NBA level player, and the cost was going to be high.
Jimmy Butler makes the Wolves better right now, and is still in his prime. He also has extensive history with Tom Thibodeau, who was his coach when he started his pro career with the Bulls.
Late word has the Wolves also getting the 16th pick in the draft.
My immediate take: YES! This is the deal I wanted. As much as I admire Zach LaVine’s dedication, Jimmy Butler is a top-notch player. Pairing him with Karl-Anthony Towns makes for a very exciting future.
It’s time to go win.
What ya got?
UPDATE: The Wolves will select Lauri Markkanen on behalf of the Bulls with the seventh overall pick.
