As reported earlier, the Timberwolves open their 2017-18 campaign in San Antonio on October 18th.
The rest of the schedule has been announced, and here are some features:
Their home opener is October 20th against the Jazz (Ricky!)
Their first back to back is October 24th-25th, at home against the Pacers then away to the Pistons.
In total, I count 13 back to backs on the season, which is more than I was expecting; I thought the league would reduce them even further.
As we know, they play on Christmas.
They have a disturbingly large number of games on national television: 25 in total. That breaks down this way:
NBA TV: 8
TNT: 7 (including the Christmas game)
ABC: 1 (Sunday, March 11th at home vs. the Warriors)
ESPN: 9 (Including the season opener.)
Tough to pick out the roughest stretch on first look, but mid-march: Celtics, Warriors, at Wizards, at Spurs, Rockets (on back to back) is something Naylor noticed.
They have two five game homestands, one in December from the 10th to the 18th, andone in January, starting on the 6th and ending on the 14th. Their longest road trip is three games.
They might have some important games down the stretch: Their final five are Jazz, at Nuggets, at Lakers, Grizzlies, Nuggets.
Those are the quick things I noticed. What catches your eye on the new schedule?
