NBA Africa Game

Johannesburg, SA
Team Africa vs. Team World
10:00 am CDT

That’s right everyone, a game thread in August.

As the culmination of this year’s Basketball Without Borders camp, a group of NBA players will face off in Johannesburg today.

The Wolves own Gorgui Dieng will feature for Team Africa, which includes players who were either born in Africa or have a parent who is from Africa. Dieng, who of course is from Senegal, also participated in the 2015 edition of this game, and is a regular in the NBA’s marketing and charitable work on his native continent.

Team World, obviously, includes NBA players from everywhere else. It’s actually an interesting group of players on both rosters:

Team Africa

Bismack Biyombo, Orlando Magic
Clint Capela, Houston Rockets
Luol Deng, Los Angeles Lakers
Gorgui Dieng, Minnesota Timberwolves
Serge Ibaka, Toronto Raptors
Luc Mbah a Moute, Houston Rockets
Salah Mejri, Dallas Mavericks
Emmanuel Mudiay, Denver Nuggets
Victor Oladipo, Indiana Pacers
Dennis Schroder, Atlanta Hawks
Thabo Sefolosha, Utah Jazz

Joel Embiid has been at BwB and is a member of Team Africa, but will not play.

Team World

Leandro Barbosa, Phoenix Suns
Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics
DeMarcus Cousins, New Orleans Pelicans
Andre Drummond, Detroit Pistons
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Brooklyn Nets
Courtney Lee, New York Knicks
Kyle Lowry, Toronto Raptors
CJ McCollum, Portland Trail Blazers
Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks
Kristaps Porzingis, New York Knicks
Kemba Walker, Charlotte Hornets

Man. That World Team might have too much back court talent for Team Africa.
