Wolves at Lakers
9:00 pm CDT
NBATV/FSN
And so it begins. We get our first look at the new Timberwolves tonight when they take on the Los Angeles Lakers in Southern California. This culminates their week-long training camp in San Diego, and after tonight’s game they will fly to China for two games against the Warriors.
Tonight’s opponent, however, is the Lakers, and the major draw is rookie point guard Lonzo Ball. He’s been the subject of a ton of media attention thanks to his family and his remarkable rookie season at UCLA. It should be fun to watch his first NBA action.
The Lakers will be without newly acquired big man Brook Lopez tonight, but will also feature summer signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and second year man Brandon Ingram, so there are things to watch from the SoCal side.
For the Wolves, Taj Gibson is slated to start at power forward, and has apparently been working with the starters all week, so that might give us an idea of what things will look like in the regular season.
We will also get a chance to see Jimmy Butler and Jeff Teague in Wolves uniforms, so that’s cool. I would not expect Nemanja Bjelica to play, and of course Justin Patton is out.
Hey! It’s pre-season. Don’t take it too seriously, but the Wolves are back. Enjoy the game. Chat here.
