After the disheartening home loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night, preseason Timberwolves basketball is back. This time, they will be looking to redeem themselves against the Milwaukee Bucks.
The match-up will be classified as a home game for the Timberwolves, but it will be played at the Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.
Minnesota has dropped its last two games after opening the exhibition season with a victory over the defending champion Golden State Warriors. With offseason turmoil and drama surrounding the team at every turn, it will be interesting to see how Karl-Anthony Towns and his Wolves bounce back.
There is little doubt that head coach and president of basketball operations Tom Thibodeau has been drilling his game plan into the players’ heads. He was noticeably annoyed after the effortless Thunder performance — especially at his team’s defensive and rebounding endeavors.
“Right now we’re not containing the ball the way we need to so we’re putting a lot of pressure on our bigs and it requires more than one effort. We’re forced into some switching situations and our smalls are not sinking and getting into bodies. That’s something we have to correct.” he said.
The Bucks fly into Iowa with just one preseason tilt under their belts, a dominant 44-point win over the Chicago Bulls. With superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and fringe All-Star Khris Middleton joining forces with former Coach of the Year Mike Budenholzer, Milwaukee are poised for a breakout year.
Before they can breakout however, they will have to get through the Butler-less Timberwolves.
Enjoy the game. Chat here. Go Wolves.
