Jimmy Butler was named to the 2017-18 NBA All-Defensive Second Team, announced on Wednesday by the NBA. Butler joins Joel Embiid, Draymond Green, Al Horford and Dejounte Murray on the second team.

The NBA All-Defensive First Team includes Rudy Gobert, Anthony Davis, Victor Oladipo, Jrue Holiday and Robert Covington.

Butler received 79 voting points (20 first-team votes for two points each, 39 second-team votes for one point each) to edge Paul George (74 points) for the final spot on the All-Defensive Second Team.

Butler led the Wolves in steals per game (2.0) and defensive rating (105.1) and was third among all NBA shooting guards with a defensive real plus-minus of 2.86. This is Butler’s fourth appearance on the NBA All-Defensive Second Team, earning three previous appearances with the Chicago Bulls in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
