Colombia v England: Round of 16 - 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia Photo by Dan Mullan/Getty Images

Hey all. Quick open thread for today.

World Cup

England vs. Sweden
9:00 am CDT, Fox

Can England keep it going against an inferior opponent? Can my hero Harry Kane score another hat trick? Is the inevitable point that England goes out ignominiously?

Russia vs. Croatia
1:00 pm CDT, Fox

Ugh. How did Russia get this far? They are not a good side. Luka Modric is the classiest player left at this tournament, something you probably could have said when all 32 teams were still here.

Summer League

I didn’t watch the game because I do not stay up that late, especially for summer league. The Wolves lost to the Nuggets 70-69 after trailing the whole night. Their late run came up just short.

Sounds like Josh Okogie showed off his athletic gifts, but struggled with his shot and ball handling. Please let me know what if anything was notable from last night if you watched the game.

The Summer Wolves do not play today. Next up are the Summer Raptors on Sunday at 2:00 pm CDT.

Free Agency

The Kings signed Zach LaVine to a 4 year, $78M offer sheet yesterday, but it appears that the Bulls will match. I wouldn’t have done so, but the Bulls are in a tough spot given what they gave up to get LaVine in the first place. Congratulations to LaVine.

(Insert Wiggins-to-Kings trade suggestion here.)

The Grizzlies signed Kyle “Slo-Mo” Anderson to a 4 year, $37M sheet. That one seems like an easy match for the Spurs to me, but there was a surprising amount of surprise on the twitter machine about that contract. We’ll see.

Lynx

The Lynx are back in action tonight in Chicago against the Sky. On WNBA League Pass at 7:30 pm CDT. The Lynx are coming off a huge win vs. the Sparks, but cannot afford a letdown like they had against Indiana.
