Grab your headphones! We’ve designed a fresh playlist for this new season.
I Wish I Missed My Ex - Mahalia
Pretty self explanatory here. Sayonora, Thibs. We’re glad you’re gone.
Let the Beat Build - Lil Wayne
Just as the Kanye and Deezy beat builds, as the title suggests on this staple from Tha Carter III, the Wolves will need to do the same. That’s how we’ll learn and become consistent. This team needs to and has the opportunity to establish a strong foundation and grow from there. A new fast-paced style with KAT leading the show. Let the Howl build.
Now everybody say
I am, the best Wolf alive
I am the best Wolf alive
And I will eat you alive
Drip Too Hard - Lil Baby x Gunna
The debut of Drip Saunders as a real, for real for real, head coach is officially here. We’re looking forward to a full season of Ryan heading up the sidelines.
Ryan will drip too hard, don’t stand too close.
XXX - Kendrick Lamar
Just like Kendrick showcases his versatility and craftsmanship, switching up his flow intermittently throughout “XXX,” the Wolves are working to define a new organizational culture. This is going to look like a whole new team, in part because it is. Sure there are some players we’re familiar with, but new additions and the fresh approach to offensive cadence and style will usher in a different style and highlight an array of skillsets.
Growing Pains - Ludacris
We’re Wolves fans, we know growing pains. Have we ever had a season without ‘em? This year especially will lend itself to growth and development — on the court, on the sideline and in the front office. It’s time to work through the strife of the past few seasons.
We were tryin’ so hard
Hard to survive’
Cause even though we were young Wolves
We had to stay strong
No matter what we went through
It was me and my Wolf crew
And that’s how it went
When we were Young Wolves
Then Came You - Dionne Warwick & The Spinners
A huge and warm welcome to Jarrett Culver, one of the best rookies alive.
Now that I’ve found ya, how did I live without ya?
(I don’t know, Mr. Culver)
It’s plain to see you’re all I need to satisfy me
I’m so darned proud of ya, I wanna sing about ya
(Sing it, sing it, sing it, Mr. Culver)
Guess Who’s Back - Scarface feat. Jay-Z & Beanie Sigel
In last year’s monumental Jimmy Butler trade, the Wolves acquired the one and only Robert Covington, RoCo. Struck with injury, we weren’t able to get a lot of time with Sr. Glovington, but what we did was worth it. He showed out offensively, defensively and quickly became a respected leader on and off the court for a young team. And he’s back for the 2019-2020 season. Looking forward to what he can do healthy and for a full season.
Guess who’s bizack?
RoCo is back.
The Next Episode - Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg
I’m really looking forward to Josh Okogie’s sophomore season (his next episode, if you will). He was a phenomenal rookie - high energy, lots of grit. I can’t wait to see how this year goes for the kid, hopefully, like Dr. Dre, his second season will be as entertaining as his first (yes, I think 2001 was on par with The Chronic).
Take a, seeaaaaaat
Hope you ready for the next episode
Heyyyeyyy.......Wolves everyday!
Power On - James Blake
In a recent interview with The Undefeated, KAT claimed the Wolves are incredibly slept on. The thing is, it’s always been this way. We are an underdog. And we have a long way to go to earn respect from the league and to be considered a contender. To that, we can do as James Blake suggests and “Power On.”
Will the Lake Minnetonka waters ever still? That’s what I want
And with every Wolf inhalation, I’m further up’
Til I can only see the outline of the Target Center storm
From space, I can see that I was wrong
Power on, power on
Power on
Power on
Wolves Power on
Jut Gang - P-Lo
P-LO’s track, “Just Gang” starts out with a quote from Tupac: “I think gang’s can be positive. It just has to be organized. It has to steer away from being self-destructive to self-productive.” The Wolves are going to be their own worst enemy this year, through growing pains as they power on, they need to stick with each other. They need to ride for and support one another through the highs and the lows. Here’s to hoping all that quality time this offseason pays off.
I Do This - Nipsey Hussle feat. Young Thug & Mozzy
“Never settling, but setting every goal high/ One thousand burpees on the path to my own destruction or success / But what is a mistake without the lesson? / See, the best teacher in life is your own experience / None of us know who we are until we fail / They say every man is defined by his reaction to any given situation / Well who would you want to define you? / Someone else or yourself? / Whatever you do, homie, give your heart to it / And stay strong.” There will certainly be mistakes made, lessons learned and failures a plenty this season. How we grow and respond will tell it all. RIP Nipsey.
Dangerous - Busta Rhymes
“My whole entire unit is dangerous.” Everyone on this team has the potential to go off any night. Varied skill sets that are being pieced together, including a strong bench, make this team...dangerous.
This, is, serious
Wolves could make you delirious
You should have a healthy fear of us
‘Cause too much of us is dangerous
So dangerous, we so dangerous
My Flip Saunders mode Squad is dangerous
So dangerous, we so dangerous
My whole Wolf entire unit is dangerous
Energy - Big K.R.I.T.
We’re going to need a lot of energy from the team and our young guns should be able to provide that. Nice to see a new offense in play, too, that is quicker and faster and entertaining to be sure.
FUN - Vince Staples
Ultimately, we’re all hoping this season is FUN. Are hopes may not be high. We have zero expectations and crave to see the team we love have a solid season. We want more highs than lows and a handful of clips for entertaining highlight reels.
We just wanna have fun
Wolves don’t wanna fuck up nothin’
Wolves don’t wanna fuck up nothin’
Fun, we don’t wanna fuck up nothin’
And we don’t give a fuck ‘bout nothin’
Wolves just wanna have fun
