The NBA announced this afternoon that Karl-Anthony Towns and Joel Embiid will each be suspended for two games following their altercation in Philadelphia last night.
This was about the expected discipline and comes as little surprise. No punishment for other players was announced, despite the Wolves’ unhappiness with the actions of Ben Simmons during the episode.
Wolves President Gersson Rosas issued this statement:
“While we are disappointed with the league’s decision, we understand the magnitude of this unfortunate incident. The NBA is highly competitive and last night was a reflection of that. We support Karl and will move forward together as a group.”
Towns will miss games against the Wizards in Washington and the Bucks at Target Center before returning next Wednesday in Memphis against the Grizzlies.
