The Wolves released their pre-season schedule this afternoon. The slate includes five games, beginning October 8th in Phoenix against the Suns and old friend Ricky Rubio.

Here’s the complete list:

Oct. 8` Phoenix SunsTalking Stick Resort Arena 9:00 p.m.

Oct. 10 Golden State Warriors Chase Center 9:30 p.m.

Oct. 13 Maccabi Haifa Target Center 7:00 p.m.

Oct. 15 Indiana Pacers Bankers Life Fieldhouse TBD

Oct. 17 Milwaukee Bucks Fiserv Forum TBD

Only one game at home this year, against Maccabi Haifa from the Israeli League.

Of course the key to any pre-season is to stay healthy, and get an early look at what combinations might work, as well as to work through new schemes at something close to game speed.

We’re only a little over two months away from seeing our beloved pups back in action.

In addition to announcing the pre-season schedule, the Wolves also officially announced the hiring of Sachin Gupta as Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. We’ve discussed Gupta at length as this has been known for a while now, but worth noting he’s been an integral part of front offices in Houston, Philadelphia, and most recently Detroit.

His expertise in salary cap management, the CBA, and analytics opened the door for him, but he’s expanded his areas to included talent assessment and trade negotiations. It’s a fantastic hire of one of the smartest guys in the league, and will hopefully make a real difference for the Wolves in their roster building efforts.
