Dane Moore NBA Podcast: Observations From The Timberwolves Season Opener

The Minnesota Timberwolves enter the Christmas Break undefeated with a win over the Detroit Pistons. We got some good soundbites from the players postgame, so I let that carry today’s show — beginning with Karl-Anthony Towns discussing where he’s at mentally. If how you play basketball is a reflection of your personality, what might that mean for the new KAT?

From there we get into Anthony Edwards kinda-sorta looking NBA ready. We talk Josh Okogie being the team’s best power forward, shutting down Blake Griffin, and the lineup combinations Okogie unlocks at the four. Ricky Rubio discusses the Wolves’ bad but diverse defense — “You go to zone when your defense isn’t working.” And then I explain why D’Angelo Russell did not start, and how that really screwed Ryan Saunders’ rotation plan.
