We’re not locked into anything.
Gersson Rosas chatted with a handful local media members gathered via Zoom Wednesday afternoon, a few hours before Rosas’ franchise would win the 2020 draft lottery. Those words — We’re not locked into anything — stood out to me.
Rosas, bluntly, made it clear that everything is on the table when it come to the team’s first round pick. And with it now known that the pick will be first overall, “anything” really feels like it is on the table. That anything could be LaMelo Ball (the top prospect on my personal big board). It could be Anthony Edwards. Even James Wiseman. But anything also opens a maze of potential trade paths. Anything is on the table.
To help me parse the many routes Rosas and Co. could take, Will DeBerg (Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, University of St. Thomas) joined me on the pod. From Ball to Edwards to Devin Vassell, Will and I share our initial thoughts on a lottery night to remember — and what might come next.
