So much for a quiet weekend, right?

As our good friend Jon Krawczynski reported, it appears Glen Taylor has entered into an agreement to sell the Minnesota Timberwolves to a group led by former MLB superstar Alex Rodriguez.

Look, there’s going to be a ton of speculation over the next few days, weeks, and months. Glen has made it a point to keep the team in Minnesota, but the connection between Rodriguez and Seattle, where A-Rod began his career, is obvious. There’s no way to know what exactly is going on behind the scenes in that department, but the moral of the story is it appears that at long last, there is going to be a new ownership group.

The obvious and scary connection here for Timberwolves fans is the connection between A-Rod and Seattle, where he began his career.

For those who were unaware, Rodriguez recently was outbid by Steve Cohen in a bid to own the New York Mets baseball franchise. It’s clear that A-Rod wants to be a owner in professional sports, and this appears to somehow be his in to the space.

We don’t know much more than that at this point, so we’ll stay ready for new info and update as this story develops, but as of now it appears that there’s going to be a new ownership group in Minneapolis relatively soon.
