Happy Holidays, Lynx fans!

In honor of the season of giving, what better way than to give to you a new edition of the Lynx Offseason Update?

As the WNBA offseason continues, the Lynx have a total of eight players who are playing overseas, not counting Napheesa Collier, who played in Turkey earlier this offseason, and Diamond MIller, who returned home after playing in Hungary at the start of the offseason. Minnesota’s Kayla McBride, Nina Milić, Tiffany Mitchell, Lindsay Allen, Jessica Shepard, Dorka Juhász, Diamond Miller, Maia Hirsch and Bridget Carleton are playing overseas in Turkey, Italy, Hungary, France and Rwanda this offseason.

In last week’s update, Carleton exploded offensively, McBride and Allen impressed in Turkey, and more.

As a new week gets underway, here’s a look back at how the Lynx players have performed over the last week across the globe in our latest Lynx Offseason Update.

Jessica Shepard

Venice, Italy

Shepard has been a double-double machine for Umana Reyer Venezia this offseason and she continued that level of play over the past week with a pair of contests.

In a 72-51 win over Fribourg in the EuroCup playoffs on Dec. 21, Shepard posted a double-double of 18 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals over just 24 minutes. In a 73-62 victory over Roma in Italy-Serie A1 action on Dec. 23, she posted a near double-double of 21 points, eight rebounds and one steal over 32 minutes.

Umana Reyer Venezia returns to action this week with an Italy-Serie A1 contest against San Martino on Dec. 30 before resuming the EuroCup playoffs on Jan. 11 against Gdynia.

After joining Rwanda Energy Group (REG) on a short-term deal to play in the 2023 FIBA Africa Women’s Basketball League earlier this month, Mitchell concluded play in Egypt over the past week.

On Dec. 18, REG fell to KPA 101-97 in the semifinals, going on to again fall on Dec. 19 against Inter-Clube on Dec. 19.

Over seven games in FIBA African Women’s Basketball League action, Mitchell averaged 23.7 points, 8.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 2.0 steals over 35.6 minutes per contest.

Though her time with REG is now over, Mitchell will join Athletes Unlimited when that season begins in the new year.
